My First Week of Classes...

Aura...this is mainly for you... (b/c it's not like we talk on the phone everyday) Haha..kidding ;)

My first week went really well here at NMU. I love all of my classes, especially physics and phychological physiology. Physics is basically just a review of what I did in high school, so it shouldn't be too bad. Phychological Physiology is fun. The first lab in that class we disected sheep brains! Physiology is basically a more in depth look at how organisms function. The only class I think will be hard for me is Drug Use and Abuse. I realized I know just about nothing about drugs and how to do them. I guess I should have guessed this class would be a chanllenge considering I have never smoked a cigarette before. I will have a lot of reading and studying to do for that class.

Starbucks is going really well. I love the people I work with...and I seem to fit right in. The best part of the job is getting that free drink everyday. But there are other perks too...I get 35% off of merchandise, a free pastry while I work, etc. I can't complain...imagine the money I am saving not having to buy that drink of mine everyday! Plus I spend my days here at Starbucks studying anyway...in fact, I am here now typing this blog.

Business is getting slower at the motel since the busy season is coming to an end. So, I am working there less but still come when I can on weekends between classes and workouts.

I start track next week and am super excited. The first 2 weeks all of the girls will be practicing at the same time every morning and we will do basic conditioning. Then, after those two weeks, we will start specializing. This means I get to pole vault in 2 weeks! There are 5 other pole vaulters this year...so wont be the lone p-vaulter anymore. I look forward to training with the new girls.

On Wednesday nights I go to the police station and play volleyball from 8-10 pm. There are 2 nets set up and usually 4 teams. I play with the usual croud that played on the beach all summer. It was a lot of fun last night. My team had all of the old farts on it...and then there was me. We actually didn't do too bad...we won 7 of the 8 games we played.

So...to keep it short...I love life here, love my friends and teammates, love my jobs, but I do miss my family and cannot wait to come home for Christmas. (I know this is a long way off...but I can't help being a little homesick once in a while). So until then, I will try to keep you all posted on my life in the UP (Although there isn't much to brag about...not like having my name on a ballot or anything...

Much love to all,

Par
